Using Google as our primary search engine at our own SEO Company Melbourne has become imperative for anyone these days. With the explosion of user properties and content online, however, a primary concern of the company has been on finding ways to verify trustworthy sources from malicious – filtering out the noise, so to speak, so that users are able to get to the information they need in an efficient, resource-conscious way.

Initially launched as a Beta feature in February 2021, today, users can easily validate preliminary information about a site to help guide their search process – without the need to break away from their primary Google search to fact-check each listed result. Simple information on a website or brand’s background from Wikipedia, indexing status, whether the result has been tailored to your search activity, and mechanisms determining the result’s relevance to your search – these are all snapshot details included, and stored as a simple solution for each search entry. Users can just tap on the three-dot icon on the top right of the result’s card, and this will pull up a short snippet on the article.

How did BETA Google Search Mode Improve Results?

In their initial update post, Google claimed “these descriptions will provide the most up-to-date verified and sourced information available on Wikipedia.” Other than Wikipedia summaries, as mentioned above, full URLs, information on HTTPS status, and implications of regional relevance is also available, among other potential snippets.

The additional information can give you context or peace of mind, especially if you’re looking for something important, like health or financial information.

Implementing the BETA Google Search Result Feature

With their new feature, Google let new readers know why and how did the search results show up in the search. Previously, the feature provided more information about results through Wikipedia. Now, it lets the user know why the algorithm is displayed in the results and reasons behind.

Google’s ‘About This Result’ and SEO

The feature was added to Google search results on July 22, 2021, and provides information about how Google landed on that website.

As an example image shared by Google – imagine that a search for “SEO Melbourne” lands on a site. The search entry displays that the result contains the words “seo, melbourne” as relevant search terms. These are, in other words, considered as the keywords in this example.

Taking another example, another search for “how to cook chicken in oven” identifies keywords such as bake as a related term, while ‘how’, ‘cook’, ‘chicken’ and ‘oven’ are designated as terms within a keyphrase. Exploration of keywords exists as a viable approach to researching keyword composition here, revealing immediate insight into how Google semantically breaks down a phrase to identify its most intended terms.

With this, users can make more informed decisions about the keywords and hashtags they can include, and how to optimise blog posts with them to target a more refined audience segment.

Other SEO tools like Google Keyword Planner or SEMRush can be used as well to research these words. They identify search volume and come up with variations for increased traffic to the blog. By doing this, you can associate these topics with popular short-tail keywords. These phrases are relevant to the business, and are being searched for by a given target audience.

Its Impact on Ranking Factors

SERPs typically contain two types of content – “organic” results and paid results. Organic results are listings of web pages that appear as a result of the search engine’s algorithm (more on this shortly). SEO specialises in optimising web content and websites to rank more highly in organic search results.

For marketers and SEO results, this panel offers a different perspective on how Google puts relevance in its ranks. Search algorithms used by Google take effect on hundreds of ranking factors affecting the placement of a specific website on a given search page, and determines its importance by virtue of this ranking. This distinguishes one web page from another website.

In Conclusion… how will BETA Google Search Results impact search engines?

Prior to BETA, the ‘About this result’ provisions only displayed information about the content source and website’s connections. Now it contains more data about relevant websites and keywords.

Google sees this feature as a way to help people make more informed decisions. This includes how they use the internet to ensure they’ve got a credible source. BETA related keywords do not contain detailed ranking weights and signals. However, it does tell users that if the words match closely. And people will link to the site, and if there are other geo-specific reasons.
