Apart from the pitfalls we mention in part 1 of the top SEO mistakes to avoid video, we sometimes notice that business owners neglect the three most important channels that can bring new customers and increase conversions. In this video, we will look at these three channels and how to avoid common mistakes related to each.

Don’t just assume people will find you on Google.

You need to provide users with value by creating great content and answering their queries in the best way possible. Business owners often think that creating a website listing all the amazing things about their business will be enough to attract traffic from Google. It’s not that simple!

Think about what your potential customers want to know and why they’re looking for your product or services. If you’re an ayurvedic clinic, for example, listing your services and talking about why you’re the best in the field might not be enough. You need to help your potential patients and provide them with the information they are looking for. For example, you could provide them with an online tool to ask doctors questions before going to the clinic in person.

Don’t neglect Amazon and other eCommerce platforms.

Amazon recently overtook Google as the biggest search platform for eCommerce products. This means that if your business focuses on selling products, you cannot afford not to have them listed on Amazon anymore.

Amazon SEO is different from Google SEO, however, it follows similar principles. Remember to optimise the titles, search terms and images for your products. Tell people what you’re selling and why they should buy it, focusing on explaining how your product addresses or solves the problem they have – just like you would on your website.

Don’t ignore social media.

This is a mistake we find business owners commit time and time again. Neglecting social media can be a huge loss for you in terms of decreased visibility, questionable branding, no social proof and worse conversions. We strongly recommend each business to have at least one social media account to display its brand, and create and foster relationships with potential customers.

Choosing your social media channel depends on what you think you could display best. For example, if your business sells beautiful products, focus on Instagram which is a highly visual platform. We also recommend creating videos and uploading them onto your YouTube channel.
Video content is 50 times more likely to drive organic search results than plain text, so don’t lose out!

Wrap up:

Business owners need to be making the most of the digital tools available to them to reach new audiences. However, sometimes we see business people assuming things wrongly and being slack when it comes to improving their online presence. This is a huge mistake in today’s day and age, as an increasingly huge percentage of consumers search for products, services and businesses online, whether that’s through Google, Amazon or social media.
