SEO, Google Ads & Websites for Melbourne Trades & Home Services
For plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, painters, landscapers, air-conditioning, cleaning and removalist businesses that want the phone to ring from their own suburbs. Search, Google Ads and the website are run as one job, by one team, from $1,000/month.
- From $1,000/month, month to month
- One client per service per catchment
- Since 2006
Who this page is for
- Owner-operated trades with one to ten vans, where the owner still answers the phone.
- Home-services companies with a sales desk that need a steady flow of booked jobs, not just enquiries.
- Builders and renovators selling a smaller number of larger jobs, where one lead can be worth a quarter of revenue.
- Businesses already paying for Google Ads or a lead directory and not sure what the money is buying.
If that is you, the rest of this page is the plan. If you are a different kind of business, the services hub or the industry guides will get you to the right place faster.
The three problems this sector brings us
Almost every first call from this sector is one of these three. The plan below is built around them.
Directories and marketplaces sit above you
hipages, Airtasker, Oneflare and the big franchise brands hold the top organic spots for "plumber Richmond" and every suburb like it. You end up buying your own customers back as leads. We build the suburb and service pages that rank in their own right, and the map-pack signals that put you in the three listings most people call.
The site was built for a logo, not a phone call
Trade websites tend to be a template with a gallery, no suburb pages, no service pages and a contact form at the bottom. Mobile visitors cannot tap a number. We fix the structure first, with click-to-call, a page per service, a page per catchment and tracking on every call and form.
Ads and SEO run by different people with different numbers
One agency runs Ads, another does SEO, and nobody can say which jobs came from where. We run both from one account set, with call tracking, so you see cost per booked job across paid and organic and shift budget to whichever is cheaper that month.
What the first 90 days looks like
Three stages, each with something you can see. Dates are agreed in writing, and if we miss an agreed deliverable in a month, that month is free.
- Days 1 to 14: audit, tracking, catchmentWe audit the site, Google Business Profile and any Ads account, install call and form tracking, and agree the list of suburbs that becomes your catchment in the agreement. You get the five-minute video audit within two business days.
- Days 15 to 45: pages and profileService pages and the first batch of suburb pages go live, the Google Business Profile is rebuilt with the right categories, services and photos, and citations are cleaned up. If you run Ads, the account is restructured around the same services and suburbs.
- Days 46 to 90: links, reviews, reportingLocal links and review flow start, the remaining suburb pages publish, and the first monthly report with a video walkthrough shows calls and forms by source. Map-pack movement usually shows in this window; competitive organic terms take longer and we say so up front.
One client per service per catchment
We won't take on another client offering the same service in the same catchment as you while you're with us. Your catchment is the list of suburbs in your agreement.
This is the clause as it appears in our client agreement. It is why we check your service and suburbs before we say yes.

Trades and home services questions
Question not here? Ask us directly.
How much does SEO cost for a trade business in Melbourne?
Packages start from $1,000/month, month to month, with 30 days notice and no auto-renewal. The pricing page shows what each tier includes, and the scope table there matches the client agreement. Google Ads management and a new website are quoted separately after the audit.
Do you work with more than one plumber or electrician?
Not in the same catchment. We take one client per service per catchment, where the catchment is the list of suburbs in your agreement. A plumber in Bayside and a plumber in the northern suburbs can both be clients; two plumbers competing for the same suburbs cannot.
How long before the phone rings more?
Map-pack and Google Business Profile changes usually show within the first 90 days. Organic rankings for competitive suburb and service terms take longer, and we tell you which terms are which in the first report rather than promising a date.
Can you run our Google Ads as well as SEO?
Yes, and we prefer to. Running both from one account set with call tracking is the only way to see cost per booked job across paid and organic, and to move budget between them month by month.
Start with the audit
A free 30-minute strategy meeting with the senior person who would run your account. We check your catchment is free before the call.
